Hair help!!??

I have curly hair as well, and I find that when I have my hair cut, it seems like it takes FOREVER to grow out.

The first reason this could be happening is that because your hair has less weight when it's shorter, it tends to have more curl. Your hair *IS* growing, but because the curl structure is tighter, it shrinks up more when it's dry.

Second, if your hair is anything like mine, it took ages to get past my shoulders in the front b/c the curls just sat on my shoulders and seemed like it was the same length for ages. It's just because they they take full advantage of having something that supports the weight and allows the hair to curl more.

Third, straightening is *very* damaging to your hair. You'll end up with more breakage which means less length. Wearing a bun isn't good for it either b/c the pressure on the hair can cause breakage and the tightness can actually encourage hair loss.

If you want to encourage your hair to grow more quickly, wear your hair a little more loosely up in a clip or other more gentle way. Be sure to use products designed to repair damaged hair. Deep moisturize at least once a week. You also might want to consider taking a look in the African American part of the hair products aisle - they actually sell products that are designed to help your hair grow.

Good luck!

how long ago did you cut it?????

on average hair grows 1/2 and inch per month

be sure to have regular trims to help prevent split ends and protect your hair from those heat appliances and you should see results

no, you aren't doing anything wrong. but, unfortunately, there is no way to have your hair grow back faster, however you can opt for hair extensions if you want the long hair look. Personally, i would just wait, because extensions are a hassle. Good luck and i hoped i helped....

first if you have split ends you have to cut em off

and dont put it in a bun. not to be mean but its not very attractivve

Well African American hair naturally grows a lot slower than a lot of other types of hair. This is because of its dry texture. What I suggest is using cholesterol by queen helene (it's the cheapest and works the best) and deep soaking it in your hair. Wash and condition your hair then put on the cholesterol on for as long as you can (I usually do it for hours). Then rinse your hair in as cold water as you can stand. This will leave the most moisture soaked into your hair. By doing this your hairs texture will become a lot smoother and healthier causing it to grow a lot faster. Also, get some heat resistant spray and use it on your hair before you put any heat on it. It will cause your hair not to fry.

All of these things can be found at any Rite Aid.

OK, I know this may sound weird but I'm polish/american. But when i had short hair i asked my mom what to do? I still have short hair.(shoulder length) She said eat bread and eat the crust.(i hate that part) Also, vegetables and fruit. You are not doing anything wrong. When you cut your hair, you have a whole new style. So its doesn't start to grow in a while. Because you cut it so it has to get used to it. Its worth waiting. Hope you like my answer! GL on the hair help!
