When it's dry and I'm combing through, that's when it sheds a lot. I keep my ends trimmed. No problems after that. Is there any shampoo/conditioner I could use to decrease the breakage when I wash my hair.

Girl i know what you talking about. i just had to cut some of me hair off cause of split end. So what i start using is Pantene Pro-v woman of color. They make this Breakage Defense line that works great. i use the Deep conditioning mask after i shampoo and let it set on my hair for about 15 mins under the blow dryer then wash it out. And for your hair being dry try using Olive Oil. the name is Organic Root Stimulator you can get this from Walmart Walgreen's. its a organic moisturizer that leaves your hair feeling great and not to oily. I put this on before i blow dry. and make sure that you put oil or something on your hair before you blow dry. cause heat can also make your hair dry.

Hi I'm of African descent too. Is your hair "relaxed"? Mine is and I'm having the saem problem as you. My hair is sheading. There are different ways to help that.

1st how often do you wash your hair? The more often you wash it is the more it's gonna shed. You should wash your hair once a week. If you can do it every other week thats even better.

2nd- try using 'Organics' Olive Oil hair moituriser. It's hard to find but it's amazing

3rd- I use Iso Plus 'Natural Remedy Cucumber Hair Massage' as a grease and it's specifically for breaking hair.

4th- Steam/Hot Oil treat your hair every time you wash it. This helps for breakage protection and Thickness

5th- try massaging your hair with a misture of 2Tbs of olive oil and 2Tbs of castor oil for 20minutes

6th- Buy tablets called 'Perfecture' they're GREAT for hair problems and even help with your skin and nails

I'm African American and the reason it breaks is that you are combing your hair while it doesn't have any grease in it, and your hair can also break if you use a blow dryer that has a comb at the end of the dryer.

i hope that you are not using Motions produsts because they are the worst trust me. A really good hair car line is the one with tea tree oil or olive oil i believe it is called Organics. You might need to change shampoos or talk to a beautician. What you eat and how you take care of yourself has alot to do with your hair too. Hope i helped. Also use some moisterizer to keep it from getting too dry like pink oil or something. Start using hot oil treatments. If none of the above work then consult with a professional.

Leave in hair conditioners or conditioners that stay in for at least 30 minutes are good for the hair. Also using products with Olive Oil, Hair Mayonaisse, Aloe Vera or Jojoba are also good for the hair.

Dove Shampoo and Conditioner for "dry hair" can help you with that. Don楹搕 use the hair dryer, it will only make things worse in your case... the hair DRYER makes your hair look even dryer...

instead look for a good Hair Oil (Wella have good ones), use it on your wet hair after you wash it.. that will work .. I hope!

I used to have the same problem but I find Redkin anti-snap works wonder. Also KeraCare conditioner is very good. Can't live without Redin anti-snap (put it in after washing and conditioning hair.).

African American hair tends to be on the dry side IF the hair is coarse and/or thick. This is because oils that naturally moisturize the ends take a longer time to reach the ends of the hair because of the coil of the strand. Chemicals such as relaxer and color as well as excessive heat don't help either. Now shedding is natural but if the strands are short and chipped looking that is a bad sign. Using a product with a healthy protein such as keratin and a good balance of moisture will help a lot. Keeping up your trims and staying away from too much heat and chemicals helps as well. A great product that you will see a difference right away is Moisture and Strength By NIOXIN. The product is marketed for baldness but trust me it will work miracles. WOW OIL DOESN'T SOLVE EVERYTHING. OIL doesn't penetrate the hair shaft and really doesn't repair the hair. It makes it soft but it will STILL be Damaged. Oil also leaves a serious buildup and is especially bad if you wash every 2 weeks. Remember that oil and product Will settle on the scalp throughout the day and at night clogging your follicle and CAN lead to BALDNESS.
