you HAVE to train your hair, it's a must, all you need is a good medium boar bristle brush and a doo rag and some moisturizer (maybe some wave grease, but don't use too much at a time), after you get the waves you switch to a soft boar bristle brush, while training your hair you have to keep it cut, and your barber will know to cut w/ the direction of the waves, but you need to start brushing your hair, 1) from the crown(top back) of your head; frontwards, 2) brush from that same point of the top back of your head frontwards, towards your temples on each side 3) brush from that same point on the top back of your head towards the back down and the same on each side in the back; like the same place in back as where temples are in front, so you will "pivot" from that same point in your head all around and brush like crazy because you have to train your hair and while your just chillin, wear your doo rag and when you sleep, the key is brushing and wearing doo rag, once you begin to see your waves pop up get a softer brush, bcuz then you will brush them out if using harder brush. by the time school starts you will have waves and the girls will be "sea sick" from lookin at your waves........good luck, keep at it, this requires persistence.

you need a good, firm (not too hard) boar bristle brush, a doo rag, and some murrays or sportin waves (preferably murrays). both murrays and sportin waves are really thick so you don't want to use too much because they will leave your hair white.
