This is so strange when I here that Ethiopians hates us African-Americans because they are African to but all africans have diffrent features and hair. Why they don't like us for, they have the same skin color as us, I think those people are white-washed or something.

1. I don't think it's fair to generalize because I know a ton of Ethiopians and they like me just fine. I've never had a problem with one and I never felt like I was being judged by one.
2. Why are you buying into the same mendacity that whites buy into thinking that all blacks have to like each other? We all come from different cultural perspectives and, frankly, we're not going to all get along. You don't have anymore in common with an African than the blond chick sitting next to you.
3. Stop assuming that everyone who doesn't care for what is perceived to be black American culture (they're learning about our so-called culture through the same mediums that whites are and don't understand that they're not applicable to the vast majority of black Americans because those are the only images they see just like a lot of whites) is "white-washed." This is one of the major problems with certain demographics of the black population. If the media distortions were the only thing that you knew, presumably, you wouldn't have much respect for us either. I know I wouldn't.
If you want to find your roots you can either do it the old-fashioned way, start with your grandparents and work your way back through marriage and birth records or you can do it the easy way and have your DNA analyzed.
Helina, if your ancestors were Arab why aren't you? I know you said the sun makes you darker but I don't see any Ethiopians "lightening up" when they get to the US nor do I see Arabs getting any darker than they've ever been and they share the same hot sun. You are African and you are black. I'm sorry if this is a blow to your psyche but Ethiopian is not a race, Arab is not a race. Arabs and Middle Easterners are considered white. As you're definitely not white, you're absolutely not Asian/Pacific Islander, and you're not part of the indigenous populations of the Americas, that only leaves one thing. Black.

Hi! I've heard this once before, but I hope it's not the case that *all* Ethiopians hate African-Americans. Either way, I'm sure it's a really sensitive issue, and so I hope people who answer this will be sensitive about it.
I only actually heard about it once, and it was from a guy from Ethiopia, and he claimed the reason he was upset was that African Americans often celebrate what they call "African culture" but this guy says that most African Americans have never been to Africa and don't really know anything about African culture. (I'm not saying I agree with the guy; I'm just relaying what he said.) So that might be what it's about.

they may not like the stereotypes about black people. i know many africans who hate black people because of that. and they as a people have the right to like whomever they choose. they don't have to like you, and what does it matter? you aren't african anyway. your distant ancestors were, but you don't even know what country they came from and you are a mix b/w different african ethnicities, white and native, so you are not the same as them. and most of all you are american, but like i said it doesn't matter, people will not like for whatever reason, but that doesn't mean that you should worry about it.

I think that the same misconceptions that exists between races exist within races. Mostly because what color you are means absolutely nothing. But most of my African friends think that US Blacks are lazy, uneducated and unmotivated and site the same stereotypes that have plagued African Americans for centuries. And of course like everyone else they also disregard the legacy of 300+ years of slavery - perhaps because many of their forefathers participated in and profited from the slave trade.
But the truth be told, the majority of the Africans whom have immigrated to the US are of a higher socio economic class then the average African American so a lot of what they display is pure classism.

That is not true. Have you talked to all Ethiopians to reach that conclusion and back your accusations up? Probably not. Yes, some may dislike black Americans because of the clashes in cultures and lifestyles while other don't. It is based on the person. Secondly, Ethiopians may have a different bloodlines or slight variations but so do most African counties but their still Africans, so their is no need for separation.
