What is the best flat iron for COARSE hair..?

I'll like to also hear from someone of mixed race, i.e those with some type of thick african/american hair.

I heard about Chi, Sedu and Global Beauty but can't decide!

What is the best flat iron for COARSE hair..?

Go with the Chi! Make sure you get one that has a temperature setting and have it set pretty high. Slide the iron over the hair quickly....don't hold it on the hair for any length of time! You may have to go over it several times, just be quick! All the girls at the salon I work at own Chi irons! They really are awesome.

What is the best flat iron for COARSE hair..?

I use Maxiglide. I'm mixed with coarse hair %26amp; it works wonders!

What is the best flat iron for COARSE hair..?

use the Chi, seems to work on all types of hair

What is the best flat iron for COARSE hair..?

I did a lot of ethnic hair in cosmetology school, and I used a Global Beauty flat iron. It worked wonders! Honestly, it doesn't really matter what brand of flat iron you buy, as long as the plates are ceramic and you can adjust the temperature of the unit. And you would want to look for a flat iron that can get to about 400 degrees. Any hotter will do some serious damage and any less won't do much at all.

Good luck!

What is the best flat iron for COARSE hair..?

I believe that CHI is the best flat iron out there! My sister has extremely thick hair and the CHI works great for her!

What is the best flat iron for COARSE hair..?

I personally recommend the chi iron, it becomes very hot very fast, so careful, and use with straightening balm to reap full effects

What is the best flat iron for COARSE hair..?

hot tools...you can find it on ebay for cheap...make sure it is ceramic.

i use these irons on my clients all the time

they hold the moisture in so it is not coarse and frizzy. it works wonders

What is the best flat iron for COARSE hair..?

i am mixed and i use a thin conair flat iron and it works like a charm.

What is the best flat iron for COARSE hair..?

Go for Chi... esp. Chi Turbo it gets really hot quickly and works really well. It works on all different kinds of hair and makes it really straight.

What is the best flat iron for COARSE hair..?

I use chi on my daughter, her hair is more Mariah Carey. I use the cricket on myself, it mositurizes more, I relax my hair 4x's a year. The cricket does not work on her curls, the chi is too hot for mine. We're both mixed.

What is the best flat iron for COARSE hair..?

I am African American and I use a CHI. Its the best straightener out there.

My 4yr old son cut my 2yr old daughters hair????

it a mess, it long on one side short on the other and bald in the middle, what should i do and not trying 2 sound racist but it can take a while for african american hair 2 grow, should i just shave it all off?? thanks

My 4yr old son cut my 2yr old daughters hair????

Please forgive me, but you just put a smile on my face for the first time today!! I know you can't see any humour in this right now, but you will in a few years. Take lots of pics my friend!!! You can't buy these kind of of memories.........funny stuff. Relax, it's hair, it'll grow back and at 2 she's too young to have a complex about it........just tell her how "pretty" it looks. At that age, they believe whatever we tell them, and be sure to warn adults before they see her not to do the whole "OMG, what happened"! followed by the mouth covering thing when they see her! Kids, even that young catch onto that, and if it's done she WILL develop a complex....With that said though, do take her to a good salon and get it as evened out as possible. Good Luck.

My 4yr old son cut my 2yr old daughters hair????

shave it off and she can look like gandhi

My 4yr old son cut my 2yr old daughters hair????

take pictures, and laugh about it in a few years.

My 4yr old son cut my 2yr old daughters hair????

shave it all off

it will grow don't worry

My 4yr old son cut my 2yr old daughters hair????

been there. take her to the stylist and see what they say can be done.

My 4yr old son cut my 2yr old daughters hair????

umm well.... maybe get her extensions in the bald spot and just make it all the same length. hopefully it all works out... god bless

My 4yr old son cut my 2yr old daughters hair????

OMG!!! If I were you, I would take her to the salon. Let a professional look at it and decide on what would be best. Don't shave it all off though...she's a girl! That would be awful! Good luck! :)

My 4yr old son cut my 2yr old daughters hair????

Oh that doesn't sound racist. I'm sorry. I know it's hard to grow hair that sucks so bad. I would shave it, unless there is any style you can do to hide it, or a style you can cut it into. Can you braid in some more hair?

My 4yr old son cut my 2yr old daughters hair????

take her to a beuaty shop an let them weave in where the bald spot is.

My 4yr old son cut my 2yr old daughters hair????

Wow, is he in trouble cause I would NEVER let one of my kids get away with that. Shes only 2 so I say shave it all off. (that's what I would do) It will grow back eventually.

My 4yr old son cut my 2yr old daughters hair????

My kid did the same thing a few years back......just trim it up short, it will grow back!

My 4yr old son cut my 2yr old daughters hair????

don't shave it off. just let it be. it will eventually grow out. it happens. people will think your daughter did it. kids that age do stuff like that. i did. there are pics of me at that age where i cut all of the top off and left the sides. i was bald on top with a mullet. i looked like michael bolton.

My 4yr old son cut my 2yr old daughters hair????

Kids are so much fun. You are not the only one. I hate to say it, but yeah, find the shortest point and try to make it work. I always take my daughter to the hairdresser when she does this (she's been doing it every other year since she was 2, The last time was 2 years ago end of April, so I'm keeping my fingers crossed.) The hairdresser seems to find a style that will work.

My 4yr old son cut my 2yr old daughters hair????

Haha, Oh no! That sucks!

Well, since she's only 2, I think you could get away with shaving most of it off. It will grow eventually.

My 4yr old son cut my 2yr old daughters hair????

What was a 4 year old doing with scissors????? HUH? Dont worry about her hair worry instead about what could have happened if he would have fallen on the scissors.

My 4yr old son cut my 2yr old daughters hair????

don't shave your daughters hair off. Try to even it if you can or get her into the habit of wearing hats. Or, if you're comfortable with it and she you could leave it if you want...

i suggest the hat or trying to even it.

My 4yr old son cut my 2yr old daughters hair????

Try to cut it to the same length all around and then u can put braids in it to help it grow back sooner.

My 4yr old son cut my 2yr old daughters hair????

Keep Better eye on Children...!!

How Did They Get To The Scissors??

My 4yr old son cut my 2yr old daughters hair????

Let me just say that I am so sorry to hear this. It must be awful.

Kids will be kids though. Someday you will look bacl at this and laugh, so make sure you take pictures. Then when you tell them the story about how he cut her hair you will have photos to show.

It is hard to give suggestions without seeing it what to do, but I will suggest that you should get a relatives advice or even take her to get her first hair cut at a salon to see what they can do for her.

I truly wish you the best of luck with this. And smile, these stressful situations that your kids put you through now will be missed later in life!

My 4yr old son cut my 2yr old daughters hair????

try taking her to a stylist i know what u mean about the hair taking a while to grow so in the meantime maybe some unique braids or some other style. Maybe you can pull the remaining hair together in a ponytail?

My 4yr old son cut my 2yr old daughters hair????

well if she is bald in the middle you may just want to shave it off, and start fresh, you could put some cute hats on here, also you should probably shave your sons hair off as well, since he did make you have to shave your daughters hair off. maybe he will think twice about cutting her hair next time..:-)

My 4yr old son cut my 2yr old daughters hair????

I don't think shaving it is the best idea, take her to a salon that is very familiar with the type of hair she has %26amp; have them see what they can do. She may have to just be "funky" for Her age. Is she old enough to leave a weave alone or would she try to pull it out?? What about the braids real close to the skull?? All else fails make it spikey all over %26amp; let it go. Your son on the other hand needs some disipline he needs to know that is unacceptable behaviour! Ps: sissors should not be accessible to children at any time! That could have been an EYE OUT!

My 4yr old son cut my 2yr old daughters hair????

Cut it up to the shortest part there is and see what that looks like.....if that doesn't do it....shave it off!! It will grow back. My daughter cut her own hair when she was 5 in kindergarten with the teacher in the room.....And she didn't see it happen!!

My 4yr old son cut my 2yr old daughters hair????

Take comfort in the fact that every child does this at least once! My granddaughter just did the same. To repair the damage, she has a mullet haircut now. I could cry! Years ago my daughter did the same thing to her 3 younger brothers! Buy her a cute hat!

My 4yr old son cut my 2yr old daughters hair????

I would take her to the beautician and see what she can do to salvage the situation. My children did the same thing. It must be a rite of passage or something like that. Good luck.

My 4yr old son cut my 2yr old daughters hair????

hopefully u took some pics, and now keep the scissors out of reach. u may just want to leave it and just play catch up for a little while, 3 dementional hair cuts was big in the 80's , or u can give her extentions till it grows out or even better just keep her hair in cornrows (in a design ) that covers or slightly covers that spot

My 4yr old son cut my 2yr old daughters hair????

1st take pictures, second take her to get it cut short so it's not so noticeable. Pretty head bands will distract peoples attention.

While I understand it will take time to grow out, it will grow out.

Hide the scissors and don't make him feel too horrible, just let him know it's not his job and it's only for grown ups to cut hair.

Please don't feel too awful, every one of my kids did this or had it done to them by a friend, cousin or one of my other kids. No matter where I hid the scissors, they found them!

You might make him get his hair cut short like hers, just so he realizes what she feels like.

Im african american i heard that if i perm my hair my hair follicle drug test wont show a one time u

i smoked one time back in january. just an extra note i am small and my metabolism is fast

Im african american i heard that if i perm my hair my hair follicle drug test wont show a one time use of weed

Perms do not change the DNA of your hair. They just relax the hair openings in the follicle.

Im african american i heard that if i perm my hair my hair follicle drug test wont show a one time use of weed

Your information is wrong. There is no way to purge your hair follicles of drugs.

Im african american i heard that if i perm my hair my hair follicle drug test wont show a one time use of weed

i dunno who told you that fable but it is a fable. want to test free of anything illegal? well, either stay away from the stuff or wait and abstain for several days/weeks, then go for it. by the way, your hair is a map of what you are, who you are and sometimes where you are! if you are doing something you shouldn't, you hair can be your worst enemy!

What are some ways to get your hair from straight to curly?

Stuff that works on African American Hair

What are some ways to get your hair from straight to curly?

I have the opposite problem. My hair is naturally curly. If you want yours curly I suggest washing it and twisting it into loose curls and securing them with a bobby pin or clip. You don't want to twist them so tight that they curl into them selves and end up tight to your head. This will only make them look frizzy when you take them out. The first time you do it, try it with out any kind of styling aids. If your hair will hold the curl, they will look more natural. If it won't hold the curl try a light hair spray and spray it far from your head. If you get too much it will be crusty and uneven and you will be dissapointed with the out come. Especially if you have ethnic hair like you say. I bet your hair is pretty thick and maybe a little hard to manage.

Another thing to try would be hot rollers. Use these with a light type of hair spray when in the rollers, or use a heat activated styling spray, gel, moose whatever in a moderate amount before you put in the rollers. The best way is to do it when your hair is damp. Good Luck.

What are some ways to get your hair from straight to curly?

I'm not quite understanding question..what I think you are askin is how can you curl your hair up and make it last?..

I suggest a permanent cold wave

What are some ways to get your hair from straight to curly?

Have kids!! Just kidding. I usually get a perm cuz I am soo lazy. I don't like to take time to use a curling iron

What are some ways to get your hair from straight to curly?

u can perm it or curl it and they have curling shampoo too or ask a salon

What are some ways to get your hair from straight to curly?

do not use that curling shampoo, it doesnt make your hair curly. if u have your hair chemically relaxed, then its not gonna be curly naturally. U r gonna have to curl it with an iron. and spritz it so it will hold.

What are some ways to get your hair from straight to curly?

tie it in a bun!

What are some ways to get your hair from straight to curly?

Use a curling iron or hair curlers. You could also blow-dry your hair while curling it with a round brush; do this while your hair is wet.

How do I find a good place to get my hair done in a new location (Atlanta)?

It's so hard to find places online because most salons in the area specialize in doing African American hair. How do I find a place that I know is used to doing hair like mine?

How do I find a good place to get my hair done in a new location (Atlanta)?

Three-13 is by far the best in Atlanta!

I would say they are averagely priced and they have three levels of hair technicians. One being the cheapest and three being the most expensive. I promise they are fantastic! If your getting highlights/lowlights/color I would ask for GWEN, thats who I see, and she is amazing! I've been going to her for 7 years.

How do I find a good place to get my hair done in a new location (Atlanta)?

word of mouth, when you see someone on the street who's hair you like ask where they got it done.

Does anyone knows of a free online course or training on how to do twisting on african american black hairs?

Best thing to do is to cruise the internet and search for hair extensions training dvds. Numerous companies offer them and they are pretty self explainatory. You can watch them a few times, practice and you will be braiding in no time. Various methods, you must decide which one is best for your client and what type of extensions you are adding. Review the lace systems and the fusion hair extensions. These are the wave of the future and expanding throught the salon industry. Weaves are being replaced with various types of extensions including fusion extensions. New technology even allows hair weaves without braiding or heating of glues...ultra sonic device fuses the hair.

Plenty of information. Not much is free. Your best bet is to buy some dvds and learn.

Are Butters and Waxes better for the hair than Oils?

for example, would it be better to use Olive Butter and Jojoba Wax instead of Olive Oil and Jojoba Oil?

---------for African American hair.------------

Are Butters and Waxes better for the hair than Oils?

i don't have African hair but i think wax and butter are better. they help me make my retarded curls straight. they also keep smoothness and moisture better than oil and w/o the oily feeling.

Are Butters and Waxes better for the hair than Oils?

Oils r good for extra dry hair. I prefer butters, but African American hair is usually dry. so maybe oils.

Does anyone have a referral for a hairstylist in the Los Angeles area (kinky curly hair)?

Does anyone know of a good stylist in the L.A. area that knows how to cut and color African American hair (kinky curly hair texture) in it's natural state? I want to continue to wear my hair in it's natural state but I want a short, sassy hair cut and color for the Summer. Any suggestions would be appreciated!

What can i use to grow my hair?

besides rogaine

i have african american hair

and it grows very slow or not at all

What can i use to grow my hair?

Everyone seems to ask this question and no matter your Ethnic background ---nutrition and genetics are HUGE factors in how your hair grows in and how fast.

I understand you may have a certain texture to your hair but how you style it an the condition it is in could make you think your hair is not growing fast when in reality it could be breaking.

Be very cautious about "over" styling this can be the culprit.

Lacking B vitamins in your diet could be a problem as well (meaning eat some avocado's and lot's of yucky liver:0P).

If you become concerned it is not growing at all or you start losing hair go see a Dr. and make sure you don't have an underlying problem.

Good Luck Sweetie*

What can i use to grow my hair?

scalp massages at least once a wk....i would go to a beauty school for this procure, as it would cost a leg and arm

What can i use to grow my hair?

i am a hairstylist...and the best product on the market is NIOXin....keep up on trims...b/c your hair is more dry being African American and easily breaks on the ends....you could also get braids..that may help you along...

What can i use to grow my hair?

Nioxin is a great product to not only help thicken the hair but to also strenghten it.

Omega 3 is a good nutrient that fortifies the hair, skin and nails.

What can i use to grow my hair?

you should keep your hair braided and also keep nutrients in it

What can i use to grow my hair?

Lavender oil has been shown to increase hair growth so massage the oil once a week and soak for 30 minutes before washing. Try http://solutionsforhairgrowth.blogspot.c... for more details.

What do you guys flat iron your hair with....grease or creme? which is better?

I have african american hair...thats very thick and puffy, wont lay down, and is hard to manage! HELP ME!

What do you guys flat iron your hair with....grease or creme? which is better?

I don't flat iron my hair with neither grease nor cream.... grease could make it worse... creme might do the trick . I read in a mag that if you use like smoothing creme for poofy hair then it will work better so try that.

What do you guys flat iron your hair with....grease or creme? which is better?

Buy some CHI silk infusion. It's more of an oil, that works EXTREMELY well. Otherwise, Redken sells a flattening balm that works really well too. I use that and I think it called super straightening balm. It's in a white bottle.

What do you guys flat iron your hair with....grease or creme? which is better?

I don't use grease (weighs down hair and makes it look bad) but creme works pretty good (just not too much of it, or it will get weighed down).

閳绢檵mily

What do you guys flat iron your hair with....grease or creme? which is better?

I dont use grease.. will leave your hair feeling oily.

Try this.. I use IC serum u can get at walmart, cvs, target, walgreen... and its bout $8. I put it in my hair before i flat iron and protects hair form heat. Also i keep putting it in after i iron to repel humidity and keep it straight.

What do you guys flat iron your hair with....grease or creme? which is better?

I have thick and puffy hair too. Here's what I always do and it works wonders. Buy the sunsilk straight hair set (They're purple bottles. The shampoo, conditioner, and creme cost about $10 altogether). After washing and conditioning your hair, put a creme (heat protectant is best) along with the sunsilk creme in your hair while it's damp. You can choose to air dry or blow dry your hair.

Use a ceramic flat iron to straighten your hair. I usually put hemp oil (only a little) in each section before I straighten it. When you finish rub a little bit of frizz-ease and hair shine through your hair.

I know it sounds like alot of product, but they are good on your hair. Plus my hair grew about 2 inches in a month in a half. Also what I would suggest, if you are paranoid about the buildup (like i am), wash your hair with clarifying shampoo (suave has it for about $1) before going through the process again.

But you should also trim your ends every once in a while. And don't use your flat iron too much.

yes, it works, depending on you curl pattern.

If your hair is like the singer mya, definitely, but if it is like erykah badu or macy gray, you'd have to use a LOT to get the result you want.

remember mousse, most of it, dries and flakes, though.

this is with or with out a perm/relaxer.

yes garnier has some good mousses for curls hair

Why do African-American women feel that it is necessary to relax their hair?

Are they trying to emulate white ppl or are they ashamed of their nappy hair?

Why do African-American women feel that it is necessary to relax their hair?

They do it for the same reason other people with curly hair straighten theirs. They're trying to conform to the current standard for beauty which happens to be straight hair. Most ethnic features aren't considered the standard, therefore people of minority groups usually torture themselves in order to look like the standard.

Why do African-American women feel that it is necessary to relax their hair?

I think its because African Americans dont like nappy hair. They see what their hair is capable of and they go for it. Regardless of the risks. Perms for African Americans can really damage growth, especially if its given at a young age. So I guess thats my answer.

Why do African-American women feel that it is necessary to relax their hair?

I think its just a preference of style. Maybe they don't think its necessary, but they just want to. Like I wear green contacts lenses because I always wanted green eyes....?

Why do African-American women feel that it is necessary to relax their hair?

It's just the style they like. If they want straight hair, fine. If they want "nappy" hair, go for it. We're all people here, and our hair should be the least of concerns in who we are.

Why do African-American women feel that it is necessary to relax their hair?

I think it is from centuries of being brainwashed into thinking that "black" hair is not "good" hair. It is a trick used by white oppressors to make black people feel inferior.

Why do African-American women feel that it is necessary to relax their hair?

Speaking as an African American woman I relax my hair because I like it straight not because I am ashamed of nappy hair or am I trying to be something I am not.

Why do African-American women feel that it is necessary to relax their hair?

African American hair is very versatile and perming is only one of many beautiful and convenient ways to wear it. Why do refer to your hair style as "dreads", as in dreadful?

Why do African-American women feel that it is necessary to relax their hair?

I refuse to turn this into a racial issue.

They do what they want.

No, I do not say this sarcastically.

A friend of mine processes her hair soley for the fact that she finds straight hair easier to take care of.

It 's the opposite of what happened in the 80's when everyone was crimping their hair, except it is just as damaging.

Why do African-American women feel that it is necessary to relax their hair?

For the same reason other races change their hairstyls. Black women are not the only ones who get weaves, perm or color their hair. infact all races do it. I have a white friend from Finland who told me she relaxed her hair at a black salon and people were making a big deal about it. Think about how many natural blondes you know or how many nonblack celebrities have fake hair. I perm my hair sometimes but it doesnt make me any less black , it is just my personal decision.I am proud of who i am and my occasional fro.

Why do African-American women feel that it is necessary to relax their hair?

I am an African American girl, and I feel that it is necessary to relax my hair because I know it looks a mess when it's natural. I'm not trying to impress anyone by straightening it, I just don't want to look like a dust bunny.

My mom allowed me to get a perm because combing nappy hair was tiring. Having straight hair, it's easier to do certain styles.

Why do African-American women feel that it is necessary to relax their hair?

I think that African American women feel it necessary to relax their hair because straighter hair seems to be easier to manage and style. Aside from that it seems to be more acceptable in the work place etc etc...For the most part I don't believe that many african american women are ashamed of their nappy hair, although there may be some who exist that are. I do think that the roots of all of this may stem from the fact that many African American women are trying to emulate white people...there is always that possibility.

Why do African-American women feel that it is necessary to relax their hair?

I got my hair relaxed b/c I was tired of the wavy curly hair I had, it was just a horrible nightmare for me, but yes, I can see your point of view.

Why do African-American women feel that it is necessary to relax their hair?

Several people believe they absolutely have to get perms so it will make their hair more manageable and silky-like. My hair is natural thick curly hair and i love my hair texture, if i want it straight or more wavy than curly--I use a little heat. My hair is easy to comb and style because i know how to take care of it and i use the correct conditioners, detanglers and moisturizers. Our hair will never be that silky-silky texture though when we relax or flat iron our hair, it is our version of silk hair. I am growing my hair out long and I am not trying to emulate white women. Black women (like any woman of any other race in this world) can have long hair to if they correctly take care of it and let it grow. It's nonsense for people to think that women and our race can't or should not have long hair just because white women have long hair so it means we don't love ourselves or something. White, Latino, Mexican, spanish, Asian women and even women in africa have hair down their backs after years of growth and maintenance. I have friends form different cities in africa and most of them have long, wavy hair down their backs--a couple maintain short hairstyles unless they get braids. My sisters still relax their hair though and it's not about emulating white women. They feel that's the best method for controlling their hair the easiest way. Some women do have pretty looking relaxed hair that is healthy and strong with a nice sheen to it. Personally, i do believe that if you can't comb through your hair or it's matted together...it's not right. God gave black women beautiful hair too and whether we wear it relaxed or natural, long or short--it's vital that we take care of it (conditioning and moisturizing) and keep it strong and healthy. Unlike my sisters, I take a little longer to detangle or comb my hair of course. I have pride in my natural hair. They have pride in their relaxed hair--and i don't think anything is wrong with either. It's my choice and it's their choice.

Why do African-American women feel that it is necessary to relax their hair?

I don't think it's that necessary. Most black women I see just put lotion in their hair, put their hair up, or cut it a certain way and they look really great. But I guess hair-straightening is okay if it's done safely. I knew of a girl years ago who was temporarily blinded after she had a bad straightening chemical put in her hair and it dripped down into her eyes when she was sweating. I'm white, but my hair is naturally wavy and I just use a boar's hair brush to keep it in control. Those things work wonders, and are worth the price.

As for the racial side of this, though, I don't think that hairstyle is a top priority in the debate over racial equality. I know I'm a silly suburban white girl and all that, but when I went to school and learned about the Civil Rights Movement I didn't hear any lectures on hair-related racism. Segregation, Jim Crow and Martin Luther King were discussed a lot, but not hair. I think it's just a style thing, and not to be taken seriously. There are more important things in life.

Why do African-American women feel that it is necessary to relax their hair?

we relax our hair cause thats how we want it...straight.holla at me

Why do African-American women feel that it is necessary to relax their hair?

i dont know maybe they want longer hair one of my friends told me relaxers would make my hair straight and i used one box and my hair felt like a rubber band

Why do African-American women feel that it is necessary to relax their hair?

NO, I'M NOT TRYING TO LOOK OR ACT WHITE. I'm tried of adding heat to my hair. Heat cause your hair to dry out and break off. I prefer to add a relaxer, so I can roll it up nightly, and take a shower without me hot combing the edges in the morning. Never ashamed of nappy hair, but you cant work in an office with a $400 suit on and your hair look nappy. That does not look right, or professional.

Why do African-American women feel that it is necessary to relax their hair?

If you take great pride in your natural hair - great! I wear my hair natural; I love the texture and the fact that I can't comb my hair. Many people are envious of the fact that can have totally different hairstyles each day because of what the texture allows me to do.

Some black woman can't deal with it. They simply want to be able to put a comb through their hair. That's not wrong, that's just personal preference.

What are good hairstyles for permed hair thats VERY long?

For african american hair but just permed and down to my waist...something cute and EASY!

What are good hairstyles for permed hair thats VERY long?

my hair is also down to my waist but i normally keep it in spiral braids which are braids braided to the scalp going in circles and then going in different directions like slanted or straight

What are good hairstyles for permed hair thats VERY long?

pony tail

What are good hairstyles for permed hair thats VERY long?

French Braid

What are good hairstyles for permed hair thats VERY long?

for an elegant style try a donut bun witha braided finish. cut the toes of and old sock off. roll it inside out to the point where it's become a donut looking shape. put hair in ponytail and put hair through donut hole. brush hair over the donut so that the hair covers the sock. leave a piece of hair out so that u can braid it. when the donut is complete braid the piece of hair you left out. wrap the braid around the bun and tuck it in. My friend has hair down to her butt and did this hair style and it really is cute. I'm african american and trying to grow my hair at your length. It's already passed my shoulders.

What are good hairstyles for permed hair thats VERY long?

ponytail

What are good hairstyles for permed hair thats VERY long?

try to get spirl curls real tight or baby doll curl

What are good hairstyles for permed hair thats VERY long?

I gess you should let it go away and when it is gone let it grow some more and then cut it to give to kid with cancer

What are good hairstyles for permed hair thats VERY long?

I WOULD HAVE IT CUT IN LAYERS TO GIVE IT SOME DIMENSION. LONG LAYERS ARE VERY ELEGANT AND SOPHISTICATED. THEY WORK WELL BECAUSE YOU CAN STILL KEEP YOUR LENGTH. YOU REALLY WOULDN'T HAVE TO PUT A CURLING IRON OR BEVELING IRON IN IT ALL OF THE TIME EITHER BECAUSE EVEN WHEN YOU HAVE LAYERS AND HAVEN'T CURLED IT, IT STILL HANGS BEAUTIFULLY. TRY IT, I THINK THAT YOU'LL LIKE IT...GOOD LUCK

What are good hairstyles for permed hair thats VERY long?

pony tail then braid it into 4 to 5 sets of braids.. try it, it's cute!! ;)

What are good hairstyles for permed hair thats VERY long?

apply oil daily on night session, dont apply after path

beauty does not come with an easy button sorry

What are good hairstyles for permed hair thats VERY long?

For a clean cut look, but still cute, part your hair on the side and a low ponytail.

But you can never go wrong just leaving it down.

Can sumone tell me how can i get my hair to start growin healthy!!im african american 2?

i asked a ? a fewdays ago about this and a lady who was african american told me to try theses vitamins: GNC's Ultra MegaNourish Hair multivitamins and she sayd she couldnt get her hair to grow and shetried these vitamins and they helped her out alot. you can get hem at the drug store or walmart and they aer about $10-12 she sayd! i hope it works =)

Can sumone tell me how can i get my hair to start growin healthy!!im african american 2?

stop chemically treating it.

Stop braiding it.

Take prenatal vitamins... even if you are not pregnant, they make your hair grow faster, thicker and give you beautiful nails too.

Can sumone tell me how can i get my hair to start growin healthy!!im african american 2?

Well it's brown in your pic, so I'm guessing quit bleaching it

Can sumone tell me how can i get my hair to start growin healthy!!im african american 2?

Yes, I've tried everything and in all my years of weaves, braids, home relaxers, wigs, coloring...

I finally realize that the only way to help black hair grow healthy is to leave it alone. Don't do anything to your hair by yourself. Find a great beautician that doesn't believe in frying and dying hair; Someone whose goal for all customers is healthy hair. Once you find this hair stylist, go to them every other week. Let them wash, condition, cut and style your hair. Don't do anything permanent to your hair at home. This may be expensive, but it is the only way to get long healthy hair. Good Luck.

Can sumone tell me how can i get my hair to start growin healthy!!im african american 2?

For most African Americans, hair growth can be difficult because we buy most, if not all, of our hair care products from traditional and chinese beauty supply stores. When you do this, you buy a hair-damaging useless product that claim to be 鈥渁ll-natural" and for super hair growth. However, they contain synthetic emulsifiers and harsh detergents, such as Ammonium Lauryl Sulfate, Phosphates, Dimethicone, and Sodium Lauryl Sulfate. Unfortunately, these products are loaded with toxins and chemicals that actually dry and strip your hair of vital nutrients it needs to grow.

I learned that unnatural hair care products are a no-no for someone who wants long-lasting, healthy hair growth.

The key to growing long black hair is finding a hair growth product that contains powerful essential oils, natural herbs, and vitamin rich nutrients your hair needs to survive. Look for products with ingredients such as: Aloe Vera, Citrus Fruits, Jojoba, Rosemary, and Sage. Make sure you stray away from all natural products that use natural extracts. Extracts are not as powerful as essentials oils. They are a cheap substitute for the real thing. Although there are several natural hair care products on the market, not all hair growth products are created equal. Make sure you read the fine print. Most 鈥渘atural鈥?products still contain phosphates, sodium lauryl sulfate, petroleum, mineral oil, and other lab created humectants that ultimately damage your hair. My advice---if you can鈥檛 read the ingredients, don鈥檛 buy the product. When I was searching for a natural hair growth product, I found one really great buy, Beauty 4 Ashes Super Hair Growth System. Finding this company took me awhile; but Beauty 4 Ashes pretty much gives you everything you need to make your hair grow. Foremost, I checked the ingredient listings and the products contained no artificial ingredients. The system also included hair growth vitamins, a great hair healthy eating plan, and even scalp stimulating hair growth exercise routine. At first, the system may seem a bit pricey, but, boy was I impressed with the results. In 9 months, I went from a thinning hair line to a full head of hair that could be braided. My sister is now using the system and her hair has grown 3" in 2 months. Now, I am no product junkie; but I have to tell you that this product is worth the money. It does not cost an arm and leg and it is worth every penny you pay. You can find it easily at www.discoverb4a.com. Also, check for it on Ebay. You may actually find a deal.

Can sumone tell me how can i get my hair to start growin healthy!!im african american 2?

get a good shampoo, then you also need to get a reconstructor conditioner, and then a deep conditioner, and then a leave in sprayin conditioner,

and you need t use these every time you wash your hair,

then when you dont you need to get like a moisturizer, like lusters pink moisturizing lotion so you can put in your hair and then like a light hair grease like, optimum light hair grease, then it should be okay, and regualary cut split ends so your hair looks healthy

Can sumone tell me how can i get my hair to start growin healthy!!im african american 2?

I grow mine by putting braid extensions in myself to protect the ends. I do not let other people braid my hair because they do it too tight resulting in hair loss.I also use jojoba oil on my hair, keep it well conditioned using an occasional deep conditioner (monthly atleast) and baby shampoo.

I shampoo in the shower with either cold water or luke warm water. I shampoo two times with just enough shampoo and then follow with a conditioner such as main n tail...rinse most of it out and leave a little in.. then I follow with jojoba oil.

When remove all of the braids I gently pull my natural hair apart. This has to be done because of demarcation. Your hair naturally sheds and mats together when you put braid extensions in.

I also eat more veggies, take flax seed oil, drink plenty of water and eat lean protein (3 x day and take a protein shake before bed). I have a total of 5 to six small meals a day. My hair also grew started growing faster when I went on a bodybuilding diet that I slightly modified.

You can take prenatal vitamins like suggested or you can take a multivitamin ,plus amino fuel, plus biotin, or you could purchase hairformula37 vitamins only from www.FasterHairGrowth.com .

I suggest eating right, no coffee and limit you junk food intake. Instead opt for healthy snacks such as fruits or veggies, maybe a good whole grain bar.

Also, massage your scalp for 5 minutes daily. Wear a satin scarf or get a satin pillow case. Do not use heavy oils in your hair, use light oils. Jojaba oil is good. I hear Camillia oil is suppose to be a beauty secret and possibly hard to find unless you know where to find it. You can purchase it for hair online or skin. Pure form is best. Mane n Tail shampoo and conditioner will protect your hair and result in longer hair.

Other supplements know to work are silica (models use) or selinium. You will find something that works for you. There are various things you can do to get your hair to grow faster but I like the hairformula 37 or multivitins with amino fuel (only use one regime or the other). When I use either of these along with a healthy diet, drink plenty of water, braids and scalp massage...I acheive faster growth. Braids grow my hair because my hair is not being exposed to heat. So if you chose not to do braids I would suggest using mane n tail and trying not to put much heat on your hair.

What can i put in my hair after my shower, in order to comb it and look good?

I need something not greesy or smelly. I am a professional (Doctor) male with African American Hair.

Thank you very much

What can i put in my hair after my shower, in order to comb it and look good?

Wow....

DAX Super-Neat Hair Creme

What can i put in my hair after my shower, in order to comb it and look good?

is your a litthe mixed like curly or wavy at all if so i use muse (spelled wrong i think), Pink, Jam, thats all i can think of lo siento

What can i put in my hair after my shower, in order to comb it and look good?

If your hair is curly like mine then i advise to rub your hair thoroughly, then continue to rub it in the direction that you want it to dry in and leave it overnight (DO NOT USE A HAIRDRYER!).This will not smell or be greasy, you can then comb it in the same direction as it is dried to give it the final combed, finishing look. This might work with short or straight hair but I'm afraid that I don't know.Hope this helps. :)

What can i put in my hair after my shower, in order to comb it and look good?

use moouse

Can you get this style done with your natural hair ?

with the twists that vanessa had in madeas family reunion the movie, could you get them done with your natural hair ? I have the typical african american hair that fizzes up from the humidity, but looks nice and straight when its pressed out. I don't get relaxers. How long will they last ?

Can you get this style done with your natural hair ?

yes, and they would last if you get them done professionally. Check out your local salons. There probably one that only does natural styles.

Can you get this style done with your natural hair ?

Natural hair is beautiful.. im actually just starting to grow my natural hair back out again.. i had locs and cut them off a few months ago.. yes you can wear your hair like Vanessa.. its simple.. just make sure you twist tight and it would help if you get claps to hold the hair in place.. doing the twist while your hair is wet will also help.. hold the hair in place with the silver clips and sit under a hair dryer.. and if it doesnt come out right try again.. styles like these require your hair getting used to it.. Good Luck oh and please stay away from the hardening hair gels they break your hair

Can you get this style done with your natural hair ?

As a hairdresser, I haven't done a lot of "African American hair" !!! Out here in Eastern Oregon where we live, there's really no call for it, and I was never taught it.... I would suggest you find a picture of what your wanting to do, and take it to your stylist, and go from there. Perhaps even look at some style books while your there, and the two of you sit down and pick something out ...together.

It sounds really cool tho, and I don't see why you couldn't do it.

What should i use in my hair?

i have african american hair and i just got a relaxer in it so it is straight....what should i use?

What should i use in my hair?

+ ahogee has a line of hair products that really works good.

What should i use in my hair?

Definitely use the Matrix Sleek Look line and the brand Proclaim. They work wonders. I have relaxed hair also.

What should i use in my hair?

Wash you hair ones a week, not with shampoo just with a simple bath soap, before this apply all over the hair coconut oil. Also if possible apply coconut oil regularly, and do not go for the colours, etc that are coming in market as they will spoil your hair, do not use very hot water for hair, nor towel / rub it very hard just do it lightly. Do not go out in a hot sun without a cover on the head. That is all I know.

What should i use in my hair?

i use dr. miricle and motions because i relax my hair too and it takes good care of it

What should i use in my hair?

use head and shoulders stuff it works great!!

What should i use in my hair?

use a light hair oil, there is one called optimum care, its red, and get lusters, moisturizing lotian, he light one to moisturize your hair, then get black and sassy style smoother, if you want to tie your hair back. if you wanna straighten it after you wash it get lets jam heat styles, if you use ceramic straighters

What should i use in my hair?

The best thing to do is ask your stylist to reccomend products. A lot of times they can get the professional stuff for you to use at home. The most important thing is to get a light oil to grease your scalp at least once a week depending on how dry your scalp is. Also, make sure you at least put oil sheen or some type of protectant on your hair before using heat. I like the Optimum line of daily hair care products. It's lightweight and really works.

What should i use in my hair?

Who relaxed your hair?

If you went to the salon, you need to ask the person that YOU trusted to relax it in the first place. They know the present condition of your hair and they know their track record for keeping the clients hair healthy after applying the chemical.

If you did it yourself, you need to find a professional that can deep condition it and trim it after you relax it; EVERY TIME.

Asking people that have never assessed the condition of your hair when it is wet or dry is always a bad idea.

I have been specializing in relaxed hair for 14 years. To give you good advice, I would have to know the density, elasticity and porosity of your hair. I would then PRESCRIBE products that will maintain or improve those conditions; that is the only way to achieve healthy hair.

The answers on this site leave alot ot be desired. The person that told you to use bath soap and stay away from color knows nothing about hair and the rest of them are just guessing. Color can be added and maintained as long as you preserve the density, elasticity and porosity of your hair.

What should i use in my hair?

Pantene for colored women's hair....it really works wonder's..It's about 6 for the conditioner, 8 for the shampoo and maybe 10 for the mostiurerizer.

Its really great I use it everyday!

What should i use in my hair?

...I use Motions because they have added moisturizers that leave my hair hydrated which ethnic hair needs...be sure to get products that are formulated for relaxed, ethnic hair...and deep condition every now and then as well i use Queen Helen's Cholesterol...girl that stuff is the BOMB...when you comb your hair comb from ends to root and use a wide tooth comb also when conditioning start with the ends and work up...the ends are the oldest hair and the most stressed part of the hair...be care full with buns and ponytails right after your relaxer because if they are too tight they will break the hair right off...and invest in a satin scarf to put on your head when you sleep to avoid hair being pulled out by your pillowcase...don't forget to get trims because once te hair splits it will eat all the way up your head and I'm sure you know to minimize heat usage...this is more info than you requested but these things will keep your hair healthy...

What should i use in my hair?

Spray your hair with Isoplus Oil Sheen Hair Spray every day to keep moisture and shine to your hair.

Need help wit hair CHI?

does chi works good for african american hair

Need help wit hair CHI?

I am not sure, but I know it works good on unruly hair....

Sorry, hope I helped!

Need help wit hair CHI?

Yes, it does. it makes my hair look great

Need help wit hair CHI?

are u talkn about the straightener? if so then if ur hair is not fragile and is pretty thick and healthy then yea itll more likely work cuz it goes up to very high heat temperatures fast...and might even burn some delicate hair types. but it can straighten thick/curly/wavy/frizzy hair in a snap. it can also flip and curl too. i looooove my CHI straightener!

Need help wit hair CHI?

i would not recommend it for very thick, coarse, damaged or dry hair,if you take very good care of your hair and like to wear it down i recommend it

Need help wit hair CHI?

Yes girl! I managed a salon and almost all of my stylists were African American and they all used the CHI. You just have to make sure you use a product that protects from the heat. One good product is Mizani Thermastregnth Style Serum, the whole Mizani line is great and made for African American hair. Also section the hair into small sections when you flat iron, pull the top into a clip and start with small sections beginning at the neck.

What is the best color to dye or highlight JET BLACK natural hair?

What is the best color to dye or highlight JET BLACK natural (african-american) hair?

I have light skin with very very dark black hair and I am unsure what is the best color to compliment my skintone. I was considering a dark red color but I am not sure it will show up because my hair is so dark. Any suggestions? What is the advantage of highlights vs. dye?

What is the best color to dye or highlight JET BLACK natural hair?

high light it with a burgundy almost purple. I think that is beautiful! I have brown hair with blonde highlights, but so does everyone! If you have a natural black color you I would stick with a darker highlight too unless you want a high contrast. I say go for a purple family color. it would look gorgeous!

What is the best color to dye or highlight JET BLACK natural hair?

start with little golden highlights on your hair, then when it looks good, you can go full on it

What is the best color to dye or highlight JET BLACK natural hair?

truffle by loreal

okay if you want your hair to look like you have some highlights truffle is the best is a redish color and it will also look black trust me thats what i have.

What is the best color to dye or highlight JET BLACK natural hair?

Your hair will be hard to color because it is so dark. Whatever you decide, (I suggest a brown hue), make sure you see a professional.

What is the best color to dye or highlight JET BLACK natural hair?

i say you should highlight your hair reddish brown

What is the best color to dye or highlight JET BLACK natural hair?

blonde streaks highlights

What is the best color to dye or highlight JET BLACK natural hair?

i have Jet black hair too and i'm afr am. the colors won't show up on your hair. you can bleach it but it weakens the hair tremendously. The best thing to to do is to go with a glaze. I use a clear or black/blue glaze. Makes my hair look like it has diamonds in it in the light. It's shiny and healthy looking. You can use a red glaze, but they really don't show up that much.

What is the best color to dye or highlight JET BLACK natural hair?

i LOVE it when black hair had a tint of red in the sunlight, its extremely beautifull

What is the best color to dye or highlight JET BLACK natural hair?

Jet black hair is extremely hard to lift. I wouldn't suggest that you use any type of box kits that you do at home, because dying your hair causes so much damage. When your hair is just jet black you have to start off gradually with color. For example, start with a dark brown, then a light brown, add some highlights, etc. etc. Get it? Chances are if you go from dark to light your hair is going to fall out or be extremely damaged. Red is also a hard color unless you already have a lightner in your hair. So your not going to able to go red like you wanted to....

What is the best color to dye or highlight JET BLACK natural hair?

burgundy highlights would look really nice. or maybe like medium brown. hmmm...try those temporarily ones first, see which colors you like best :]

Does anyone know of a good hair salon in Plainfield, NJ?

Does anyone know of a good hair salon in Plainfield, NJ?

I am a 16 year old african american girl, i have a serious problem with my hair breaking daily, what

I am a 16 year old african american girl, i have a serious problem with my hair breaking daily, what do i do?

No one knows African-American hair better than a salon that specializes in it =) If you check around the internet or the Yellow Pages, you should find a salon with people qualified to help you. Good luck =)

I am a 16 year old african american girl, i have a serious problem with my hair breaking daily, what do i do?

Stop using so much heat and start wrapping it at night. Weekly hot oil treatments will help too.

I am a 16 year old african american girl, i have a serious problem with my hair breaking daily, what do i do?

use a heat protector on your hair and give it a good deep conditioner every 2 weeks

I am a 16 year old african american girl, i have a serious problem with my hair breaking daily, what do i do?

All of the above advice is good. (I am bi-racial and an African American hairstylist recommended Biosilk to me, but I really didn't like it except as a finishing gloss.) Use a hot oil treatment, gentle shampoo and deep conditioner everytime you shampoo. Try not to use heat to style your hair everyday. Instead, every three days or even weekly, you could use a round brush and a hair dryer on low to straighten your hair, or let it air dry and then use hot rollers. At all times be very gentle with your hair, it is special to you and sounds beautiful.

Do you think the perms may be causing damage? Make sure you follow the instructions and don't wash your hair the day before. Or you might want to stop perming your hair. It sounds weird but I have been using Palmer's Shea butter lotion to smooth out my hair in really dry spots and it actually works great as long as you only use a touch where you need it.

Can i use this olive oil on my hair???

Can i use this olive oil on my hair???

if you have dry hail that frizzes like hell (Usually seenin african americans) then yes. if you have naturally straight hair, you will look like a homeless man.

Can i use this olive oil on my hair???

No, it will make your hair greesey!

Can i use this olive oil on my hair???

I don't know if it will make it grow faster, but it will make it shine nice.

But use olive oil without salt in it (extra virgin)....however it will smell your head up!

Also, getting this stuff out of your hair takes time (washing a few times then rinsing with vinegar helps).

Try going to a health food store and asking for Silica - this helps hair and nails and skin....and works for all races

Can i use this olive oil on my hair???

i wouldn't. it would probably make it oily. if you want your hair longer. i read in an article that if your trim your hair hair every two weeks it will grow faster.. Plus drink lots of water

Natural Homemade Tips for Hair %26amp; Skin

http://blog.360.yahoo.com/blog-gnA4Lmo_b...

Do a lot of african-american women wear wigs or have fake hair?

I'm not sure what's exactly being said but I don't like generalizations being made about black women and the whole weave/wig thing. I've never worn weave, and its not because I have what they call "good hair". I have decent hair and I take care of it. Most black women who wear weave, wear it by choice because they choose not to take care of their hair. Its quicker to do extensions, and easier, and they can make your hair grow. But I wouldn't say most of us do, but that's too much a generalization. And if you don't know to look at or what you're looking for you're not going to know if its real or fake anyway, which is the point.

Do a lot of african-american women wear wigs or have fake hair?

yes, a lot of weave.

Do a lot of african-american women wear wigs or have fake hair?

A lot do...extentions are very popular.

Do a lot of african-american women wear wigs or have fake hair?

yes, they do.

Do a lot of african-american women wear wigs or have fake hair?

Yes some do. NOTHING wrong with that.

I dont. I have that "Good Hair".

Im starting to see ALOT of white woman getting on the "Track" with weave. lol.

If your trying to say most "african" american woman do then NO.

Just like most white woman do not get ALOT of plastic surgery.

Do a lot of african-american women wear wigs or have fake hair?

yes, but so do alot of Caucasians. Jessica Simpson has a whole line of wigs and extensions.

Do a lot of african-american women wear wigs or have fake hair?

If you're referring to black women then no... just like a lot of white women don't get fake boobs or a lot of spanish women don't necessarily have to like j. lo... what kind of question is that???

Do a lot of african-american women wear wigs or have fake hair?

SOME black women may wear weave but it's not any different from a white women wearing weave. Alot of white celebrities like paris hilton wear weave, alot of WOMEN wear weave period.

How do I soften the color of black hair?

Not african-american hair - just causcasian hair dyed black. I like it, but I wanted to make it a little more subtle.

Any ideas or links?

How do I soften the color of black hair?

Frequent shampooing will fade out the jet black color in time. Use a shampoo with built in conditioner. Hair dyed black is difficult to lift to a lighter color without ending up with some unusual uneven shade. Try the shampoo first, if no results, u may have to visit a hair colorist who may lift out strands of hair to a slightly lighter color, to make it blend.

How do I soften the color of black hair?

A red rinse in it makes it nice. The colour will fade in time though

How do I soften the color of black hair?

dye it a warm brown, i say warm because if you have black hair and you want a softer color, you need many shades lighter than the color you want

How do I soften the color of black hair?

Now see...adding more color is not healthy for your hair...it will fade some overtime from sun, washing, ect. just get it trimmed and keep it styled pretty...make sure it is shiny and it will look nice...

I'm African American woman what do I do to straighted my hair with out a hair straightner or ir

I have frizzy and tangles in the hair and whenever I iron my hair it gets even worse. My hair is shoulder-height hair. What can i do to keep it straight or detangled with having my hair always wet?

I'm African American woman what do I do to straighted my hair with out a hair straightner or iron.?

Go to an asian salon, there's this new japanese permanent hair straightening method, it doesn't damage ur hair and afterwards it issoooooo straight,,, I mean so straight that if tornado blows it after a sec i'll go bck to normal, it'll feel sooo light, and soooooo soft, fine, shiny and if u take good care it last about about 1 year. I get it done every year, if u need more info jst ask.

I'm African American woman what do I do to straighted my hair with out a hair straightner or iron.?

Use a relaxer or blow dry it straight with mousse.

I'm African American woman what do I do to straighted my hair with out a hair straightner or iron.?

Do what people did back in the early 60's.Have a Friend Iron your hair, with your iron.

I'm African American woman what do I do to straighted my hair with out a hair straightner or iron.?

Use a relaxer, you can find them at most bueaty supply stores, ethinc stores and even Wal-mart oddly enough, but you will still need to use a flat iron to keep it very flat.

I'm African American woman what do I do to straighted my hair with out a hair straightner or iron.?

u could go to a salon and get it relaxed

I'm African American woman what do I do to straighted my hair with out a hair straightner or iron.?

l've tryed hair gel, put it all over your hair, comb it back and let it dry then comb it out, it works for me,

I'm African American woman what do I do to straighted my hair with out a hair straightner or iron.?

mabey you are using the wrong iron..make sure its a ceramic iron.....or mabey try a diffrent style..i ushally have my hair in a flat wrap...wash hair, wrap it,put wrapping lotion on it,dry under hair dryer, grease it and thats it..it comes out straight.i flat iron it sometimes..just becouse sometimes it may be puffy..but it ushally comes out right.

I'm African American woman what do I do to straighted my hair with out a hair straightner or iron.?

Get a pressing comb

I'm African American woman what do I do to straighted my hair with out a hair straightner or iron.?

To detangle your hair properly you need to use a good moisturizing conditioner on your hair after shampooing while it is still wet. Apply a generous amount of conditioner and gently comb it through wet hair with a wide tooth comb from the ends to the roots. Apply some hair oil, and gently braid it and let it dry. When it is dry it will be partially straightened on its own. If your hair is natural, avoid combing it while dry because you will cause hair breakage. If you want to press your hair, follow the tips at this link: http://ofranklin.wordpress.com/2007/01/1...

U will need plenty of itamins in ur hair and don't cut ur hair.

How can i make my hair grow longer??

Whether it be caucasian, african american or asian hair, the key here is to keep it healthy. Many products out there contain alcohol with dries the hair of nutrients and precious oils. Avoid these as much as possible, condition your hair regularly, brush it a couple of times a day to bring oils to the surface that protect your hair, avoid processing (dyes, straighteners, blow drying), and trim it regularly to avoid dead ends that can slow the growth process. Don't forget that sun can damage your hair, so wear a hat when you know you will be in the sun for long periods.

Diet is just as important. Gelatins improve strength of your hair, but you also need a balance food group to ensure healthy growth.

Good luck!

Avoid hairdresser first. Secondly, don't listen your friends or family who want you to cut your hair, Thirdly, if you want to have really long hair, consider the option to have dreadlocks. I am a male and I love dreadlocks! More they are long, more they are beautiful!

Help with African Hair?

Ok well I am African American and I want to know what should I

use after I wash my hair to keep it smooth and straight? I have a wonderful hair straightener, but my biggest problem is when I walk it flys up and stays there, and it looks really bad.

For example when I come out of the hair salon and the stylist does my hair it's nice, and not weighed down with grease. And when I walk it doesn't fly up, it stays down and looks great.

What can I put in it so it will be straight, smooth and managable and most of all it doesn't fly up?

So for all the African American Women/Girls what is your routine for doing your hair after washing it?

I blow dry it, put grease in it. [This time I used pink lotion.]

Then straighten it in little sections.

Then I wrap it.

Help with African Hair?

My hair used to always do that "fly up and stay there" thing.

You either:

*have a lot of "new growth" (the curly hair that comes in that you relax) which is lifting up your fine relaxed hair.

*You have very fine hair and u put too much product on it.

You could try flat ironing your hair bi-weekly (as in twice a month). I wouldn't recommend anymore since flat irons are so damaging.

Do not use pink lotion or grease. You better not be putting that junk on your scalp either! And wrapping puts too much tension the scalp and hair (depending on if you wrap the same direction each time and how you wrap it). I hope u use a satin cap.

You could always do a rollerset if you have hair that goes past your armpits, it will probably take a while! There's a great tutorial here:

http://healthytextures.typepad.com/my_jo...

MY instructions:

1)shampoo w/ Creme of Nature RINSE

2)Deep condition under hooded dryer with Organic Root Stimulator Replenishing pak or Nexuss Humectress RINSE

3)put hair in magnetic rollers

4) sit under hooded dryer until hair is COMPLETELY dry

5) you can do a saran wrap treatment if you like (instructions are on above link, search the site under "tutorials")

You could also do a braid (or twist) out which basically leaves you with wavy hair. To do this, after shampooing, put WET hair in braids/twists. When dry (i wait overnight) unbraid. Do not make too many braids.

Help with African Hair?

You can try Biosilk Silk Therapy when you blow-dry it with a comb attachment. You can also try Fantasia IC Heat Protector Spray (which costs less) before/ while you flat-iron it. Both of these work very well for me and I have natural hair. You can find both at beauty supply stores.

How can I Get My Hair Straight and Bouncy and Full Of Luster?

I Have African American Hair And It is kind fo hard to work with

How can I Get My Hair Straight and Bouncy and Full Of Luster?

have you tried roller setting? flat ironing does give it body (bouncy and full of luster), but only for a minute. At first with roller setting, it might look poofy but after you sleep on it the 1st night, it'll get wavy and nice. plus it last for long time (2 to 3 weeks) but you have to wrap everynight. if you dont know much about what i'm talking about, you can always ask your friends and go to a salon and ask them.

How can I Get My Hair Straight and Bouncy and Full Of Luster?

Try using a hair straightener, a flat iron.

go to a salon.

How come African-Americans say "Good Hair"?

I notice that my ethnic groups say " Good Hair" when someone who is Biracail or non-Black with straight hair! Are they trying to say we African-Americans have bad hair because We don't have the straight hair like other races and ethnic groups.

How come African-Americans say "Good Hair"?

That comment was used by whites during slavery. You had slaves who were darker and then you had those who were light skinned due to mixing with the whites. Those with lighter skin were considered to have good hair, because it looked to be more European. As a result many blacks before and after slavery were influenced by this way of thinking. It's only really now that this thought is leaving the minds of most people.

How come African-Americans say "Good Hair"?

*chuckles* I thought only really old people still say that...and I would think it has something to with the social climate of their day.

LMAO @ the South I live in Alabama and the only people I have ever heard say that are really old. I just overlook them because their mental wiring is a bit different than later generations. I am referring to persons who were alive pre-Civil Rights era when it was "the whiter the better" was accepted in order to get by. It was a mark of distinction back then.

How come African-Americans say "Good Hair"?

I've never heard that said by any race. We D%26amp;D players say "Good Gaming" to each other. Eh, maybe there's a bit in common there haha.

How come African-Americans say "Good Hair"?

I think they say "good hair" b/c it's fine and most things that are fine are the better product like sand, material, etc. "Good hair" really just means it's easily managed.

How come African-Americans say "Good Hair"?

I think Gloria had it right. You have to remember that for hundreds of years, naturally African traits were looked down upon by most of American society (the traits were associated with slaves, it's a psychological thing.) It's a sad situation, but it also led to the most versatile styles of hair I've ever seen in my life. I have to say it, Black hair styles are an art form.

I've heard of many AA women my grandmother's age who remember having their hair hot-combed to make it straight and lustrous, usually with the help of a pomade, during the 1950s. My grandmother used the same pomade herself, but not to hot-comb, as she's Irish and Native with naturally straight hair. I guess it was big then. She's originally from Knoxville as well, that's where I heard this. As for me, I'm from Oak Ridge originally ;)

How come African-Americans say "Good Hair"?

I have heard this before, when I lived in Detroit. The "good hair" comment referred to Black or bi-racial women who had straight hair or lightly wavy hair. I have also heard it from my Hispanic-Black mixed neighbor, who tells me that her sister has "good hair".

I think this comes from earlier times when Black women considered straight hair "good".

Personally, I think that Black hair is good hair, since it is more versatile (Afro/wavy/braids/straight) than Caucasian hair!

How come African-Americans say "Good Hair"?

that gets on my nerves. yes it is saying that blacks have bad hair. it is a self hate issue that we have. it isn't just with hair. it is with skin tone. lighter skin tones are praised in the black community. and darker skin tones are seen as not good enough especially in women. that is why most female celebrities are multiracial or light skinned. it is ashame. if i am ever ashamed of being black it is because my race hates being black.

How come African-Americans say "Good Hair"?

That was just ignorant statements from a racist past. Now black women and men realize how beautiful they look with their natural hair.

How come African-Americans say "Good Hair"?

why can't you figure out the answer for yourself if you are really black?

wait a minute! thats because you are a TROLL!

How come African-Americans say "Good Hair"?

Gloria is soooo right.

How come African-Americans say "Good Hair"?

What black means when they say "good hair" is hair that does not have a tight curl pattern. A black person who does not have a relaxer and wears their hair natural most likely will have a tight curl pattern to their hair. "Good hair" for some people is someone who has natural wavy hair. Just because a person is wearing their hair in it's natural state does not mean that their hair is not long when a flat iron is used to straighten it.

As for myself "good hair" is healthy hair. Some people of other races think it takes a long time to straighten black hair. As for me it only takes me about 20 minutes.

How come African-Americans say "Good Hair"?

Because they're self-loathing morons who wish they were white.

I know that sounds harsh, but it's true. Why else would so many balck women go out of their way to get their hair straightened and weaved up to look like everyone else's? Why is our natural hair "bad hair"? It's obvious self-hatred. I hate that.

I love my natural hair and I can't wait to get sisterlocks.

How come African-Americans say "Good Hair"?

Because it is their ways.

Do you think girls would be interested in dating an African-American albino teen with long blond hai

I know this sounds like an inane question but i'm interested in knowing the answer. I have a vivaciously humorous personality and I am very intellectual. Some people may joke about this if they want but I really dont care.

Do you think girls would be interested in dating an African-American albino teen with long blond hair?

My younger brother's girlfriend is albino, I think she's hot!

By the way, for those that are saying how can you be african-american and albino w/ blonde hair...

"ALBINO" is not a race. An african american couple can create an albino child just as well as caucasian or anything else although i haven't seen anyone albino that wasn't either listed above.

being albino, your hair can either be white, blonde or a strange reddish color.

Do you think girls would be interested in dating an African-American albino teen with long blond hair?

Heck yes cause I could call him Al because hes albino!! lol

Do you think girls would be interested in dating an African-American albino teen with long blond hair?

I don't get how your African-American and albino with blonde hair but I don't think it should matter what you look like. I say if you're nice not ugly anda great guy any girl would love to date you.

Do you think girls would be interested in dating an African-American albino teen with long blond hair?

i don't know how you could be an african-american albino, but alright :) i would date you i you cut your hair, i hate to see guys who have long hair. you sound like an ok guy, and having a sense of humor is a great quality, as well as being smart. good luck bud- cut ur hair

Do you think girls would be interested in dating an African-American albino teen with long blond hair?

I guess it doesn't really matter if you're "African-American" because ALL albinos are in a race to themselves. And you sound adorable! Yes, there are girls that would love to date albino teens. Some girls like blonde hair and light eyes %26amp; will fancy your looks. It should be easy for you to find a nice, attractive girl. No sweat. However, in your case I would open my options a little. As in, open to dating girls from all races, and not box yourself in. Opening yourself a little will increase your chances of meeting the right girl!

Would this cut really work with afican amrican hair?

Okay so I was thinking about getting this cut(will show picture later on)I really want to get it but I don't know if it will work cos I have african american hair but I will have it relaxed when I get.I don't wanna get to the salon and find out it won't work.so here's the pic:

I have african american hair and I think the scene hairstlye works for me.

I don't think it will look good for you, thoigh.

btw, you know that's a guy, right?

Would this cut really work with afican amrican hair?

you should get your hair thin with layers. and a few side-bangs. you should make it longer like shoulder-length. YAH. i think that'll look great. :)

Would this cut really work with afican amrican hair?

You can definitely get a cut that is very similar, but your hair doesn't look long enough (just from the pics I saw) to really come down around the face the way you want it to. And remember even with relaxed hair it will not probably not move as freely. But you don't have to be exactly like the pic, just take the pic into your stylist and they should be able to create the look you want.

Would this cut really work with afican amrican hair?

i think it'll work but it wont look as silky, but it should still look cool!
