are u talkn about the straightener? if so then if ur hair is not fragile and is pretty thick and healthy then yea itll more likely work cuz it goes up to very high heat temperatures fast...and might even burn some delicate hair types. but it can straighten thick/curly/wavy/frizzy hair in a snap. it can also flip and curl too. i looooove my CHI straightener!

i would not recommend it for very thick,coarse,damaged or dry hair,if you take very good care of your hair and like to wear it down i recommend it

Yes girl! I managed a salon and almost all of my stylists were African American and they all used the CHI. You just have to make sure you use a product that protects from the heat. One good product is Mizani Thermastregnth Style Serum, the whole Mizani line is great and made for African American hair. Also section the hair into small sections when you flat iron, pull the top into a clip and start with small sections beginning at the neck.
