African American women, why must you do that to your hair?

Why must you straighten your hair and wear weaves, be happy with your natural texture, and why do so many African American women say that every other race has good hair? There is no such thing. I just really want to know why it is so unacceptable to so many women in the black community to wear the hair we were born with.

I love my natural texture. I wear my hair in locs, and the only regret I have about it is that I didn't do it sooner. Yes, I have good hair, just like all of us unless we perm it, thereby damaging it.

I dated an African-American woman that straightened her hair and I absolutely loved it. Report It

come on now.you know damn well you do SOMETHING to your hair.(perm, straighten it or something) unless you mixed with something and got that soft hair(not calling it good).

It seems a lot of people, (regardless of race) are wearing fake, or horses hair. Why? Perhaps laziness? I know it閳ユ獨 not just black women anymore though.

Blacks, just like any other race like to do different things to their hair. You eather straighten, curl, color, tent, cut, or something to your hair. Almost any woman wants to look good for her man.

your right god made the hair on your head why not

society has told the men that to be cute or attractive you must have hair like the next women. even braids has become a joke because that is long to. everywhere i turn everyone has long hair. when i was a teen no one had a lot of hair,it was different texture and length

well i am not African American but i have naturally curly hair and i hate it so I straighten it and color it and i buy hair pieces not for laziness but for a different look it is exciting and new its like getting a new car or buying a new house or something like that after you buy those things you want to get new floor mats or you want to buy new curtains for the new house it is with you forever...if that doesn't make you understand i don't think you will....lol

Answer: because when you wear you hair natural, the white boss lady at work says you look like a wild woman. That actually happened to me.

I'm brown-skinned with the most textured hair you will ever see. We have to deal with competing messages: black is beautiful; good hair is better. I happen to believe that my hair is good and strong.

Straight hair is a more acceptable form of beauty. It's what we see in the magazines. Most people, black, white, or other, do not know what to do with natural black hair. It's a complex beast that follows it's own rules.

Now about the hair weaves; black woman can be very creative in how and what color they choose to adorn their heads with. I haven't met many men who like it, though.

I've been wearing my hair natural for over 10 years. It's a chore to deal with but I wouldn't have it any other way.
