I have extremly thick hair that is a disaster

when i straighten it, it turns out to be extremly POOFY!

what can i do to stop this that isn't expensive

by the way i am 12 and have african american hair

(i have never worn my hair down because it is horrible)

ok trust me on this one i have naturally curly hair and this year was the first year i have worn my hair down sence like idk when but yeah after washing yur hair try a product like panteen pro-v striaghting gel and comb that through yur hair blow dry and then straighten but when u straighten use something like bed head controll freak so it masters the poffyness even more Good Luck

Ya I have poofy hair too. Try a nice straightener, like the Chi. It works great and it comes with something (I forget what its called) That goes in your hair to help with the poofy frizz!

put straightening products in it then blow dry it by section. after that slowly, go section by section and straighten it. if you do it right and ahve a good straightener it will work. i promise. take your time(:

There are alot of moisturizers out there that can be bought to tame or control poofy hair.You can the Garnier Fructis,or Sunsilk,sometimes even Biosilk,these may help your hair relax and go down a bit.Good luck.

My daughter has extrermly poofy hair also. I would have to say, maybe try to put some hair products in your hair before straightening with a flat iron. Or try to use some sctrunch spray and dont wear it straight but were is scrunched. even just half up and half down.

I think you shouldn't use a lot of shampoo, just a regular amount, and TONS of conditioner.

I'm sure your hair isn't even a fraction of the mess you view it as. Just because you have african american hair that doesn't mean you have to try to tame it down. Why not try embracing it and making it rock for you? There is nothing wrong with letting it all hang out and being proud of who you are and where you came from!

If you really need to tame it, go to a hair salon with african american stylists and explain to them that you need some products to keep it more tame and that you don't have a lot of money to spend on products, see what they reccomend. Just do your best to see the beauty within and appreciate what you do have!

Well, try to wet it then when it drys use a straightner, if tht doesnt work go to a salon and ask to get ur hair straightened. salons can do anything. I have a friend tht is 12 to her name is ashley barton, and she has extremely poofy hair, but she straightened her hair one day, and it only lasted one day straight, so i suggest either go to a salon cause they can do anything for hair, and if u dont want to do tht then straightened ur hair everyday and it will be straight =] hope this advice is good =]

Do you straightener your hair with a straightener or with a relaxer?

Relaxer will keep it straight from long time than hair straightener because when water gets into your hair,it will have the Afro looks if you use only hair straightener.

Get "Non of your frizziness" by Herbal Essence

read the label on the container before you buy it,the type I'm talking about is a leave in conditioner. there's a similar "non of your frizziness" product by Herbal essence which you rinse from hair after application.

Getting your hair braided with some extensions will make it easier to maintain and you won't have to worry about straightening it everyday.

i have being worry about keepin my hair,but i have resorted to keepin it the Afro way.i will consider dreadlocks later.if you are so worried get dreads,sista.
