with the twists that vanessa had in madeas family reunion the movie, could you get them done with your natural hair ? I have the typical african american hair that fizzes up from the humidity, but looks nice and straight when its pressed out. I don't get relaxers. How long will they last ?

yes, and they would last if you get them done professionally. Check out your local salons. There probably one that only does natural styles.

Natural hair is beautiful.. im actually just starting to grow my natural hair back out again.. i had locs and cut them off a few months ago.. yes you can wear your hair like Vanessa.. its simple.. just make sure you twist tight and it would help if you get claps to hold the hair in place.. doing the twist while your hair is wet will also help.. hold the hair in place with the silver clips and sit under a hair dryer.. and if it doesnt come out right try again.. styles like these require your hair getting used to it.. Good Luck oh and please stay away from the hardening hair gels they break your hair

As a hairdresser, I haven't done a lot of "African American hair" !!! Out here in Eastern Oregon where we live, there's really no call for it, and I was never taught it.... I would suggest you find a picture of what your wanting to do, and take it to your stylist, and go from there. Perhaps even look at some style books while your there, and the two of you sit down and pick something out ...together.
It sounds really cool tho, and I don't see why you couldn't do it.
